My name is John Lynch. I’m interested in mechanical design and engineering, especially in topics such as aircraft design and aerodynamics. But I’m also interested in making things by machining and other processes, so that’s why Design Intent is “at the intersection of design and manufacturing.” I find it hard to separate the two, and believe strongly that understanding manufacturing processes makes you a better designer and vice-versa. I have a small R&D shop equipped with a CNC mill and lathe and some manual machines where I work on various development projects. I’ve been using and teaching CAD/CAM software for years, and use tools such as Solidworks, Pro/Engineer, and SmartCam in my work. You can get in touch with me at:  john “at” jldesign.biz Thanks for taking an interest in my work.
